Welcome to JINBAR. A place for a few drinks, great food, and even better company. Catch up with friends, unwind after work, impress a date — whatever mood you’re in, there’s a seat waiting.
The meaning of Jin is “true” in Korean, and at JINBAR, everything begins with that idea. True flavour. True comfort. True connection between food and drink.
In Korea, chicken and beer are such an iconic pairing that the term “Chi-Maek” was coined to describe it. It’s Korean soul food — crispy, bold, craveable — designed to be shared over rounds of drinks and long conversations. That spirit lives at the heart of JINBAR.
Set inside our 105-year-old heritage building, JINBAR blends minimal design with an open kitchen and pizza bar that keeps nothing hidden. We use true ingredients to create true flavours and
deliver a true experience — one where every bite is meant to meet the glass beside it.
True Story to Chef Hyungjae
After relocating to Calgary, Chef Hyungjae graduated from SAIT’s Culinary Arts Program, bringing eight years of bartending experience in Korea with him into the kitchen.
Working behind the bar shaped his approach to cooking. He understands balance — how flavours interact, how textures contrast, and how the right drink can transform a dish. JINBAR’s signature
Fried Chicken reflects that philosophy, inspired by Korea’s Chi-Maek culture and designed to be enjoyed exactly as it should be: with a drink in hand.
By combining Western techniques, Canadian ingredients, and vibrant Asian flavours, Chef Hyungjae creates dishes that are distinctive, thoughtful, and built around the drinking experience.
At JINBAR, food and drink are never separate conversations. They’re designed to speak to each other — and to you.
